44 pg, A4, xerox, English

Interviews
7th Nemesis, Mortuary Ancestor, Makam, Crimson Fall, The Hidden, Zubirun, Deforge, Anguish, Interfector, Outcast From The Faith, Lunatic Gods, Cea Serin, Vrykolakas, Api Marhaen, Spazmosity, Pain Of Soul

Scene Report
Colombia

The last zine from Grundar.

The zine's first issue full English as mentioned somewhere in the zine.

About the layout 4 columns per page using big fonts. The pages are numbered but no table of content.

The xerox quality are awful but quite common at the time. Pictures are not in good quality. Good thing the zine cover some unknown band including from Malaysia. I didn't know Thanatopsis's zine editor had a band.

Reviews are plenty. Cover music reviews (all formats in one section) are not rated, not alphabetically arranged and some with its front cover. The zine reviews and VCD reviews also has their own section and also not rated and not alphabetically arranged

This issue also comes free CD-R sampler, but it is not playable anymore.

Metalwarpage #2 (2004)

Metalwarpage #2 (2004)
48 pg, A4, xerox, English

Interview
Argon, 9th Plague, Beast Petrify, Nefarious Azarak, Inter Nos, Venusian, Death Cell, Nocturnal Vomit, Tussock, Inhumate, Maar, Kherow, No System

And also another one from Grundar sale.

Layout improved a lot. 4 columns per page using consistent font type and size. Table of content is present now look a bit organized.

Before the interview starts, he put excerpt of the interview. This is new.

Also new is zine review is now available. Music review however still not alphabetically arranged and not rated but there are plenty of review.

News section is still here. Gone now the articles section.

Interview
Luciferion, Agathocles, Torture Killer, Dead Infection, Decayed, Chuck Schuldiner's mother, Manegarm, Audiopain, Mind Eclipse, Ingrowing, Serpents Aeon, Carnal Forge, Detrimentum, Paganizer, Cadaveria, Braindance, Malevolent Creation, Exhumed, Attila Csihar,

Gig report
Summer Breeze Festival

A year later came out issue #9. Nothing much has changed since #8. All are in the same style like #8 (layout, 1 page for news, The Real Underground section, etc) and also comes with free CD sampler.

If not mistaken, Chavdar still runs mailorder/label. Maybe some old copies are still available for sale.

Due to my bad memory, I bought this issue twice (one copy still sealed). The second one I bought from Dirs of Mortuary Ancestor. Nevermind, I can sell or trade them later.

Anvil #4 (2004)

Anvil #4 (2004)
84 pg, pro-print, English

Interview
The Amentia, 3 Inches of Blood, Dead To Fall, Slayer, Atrocity, Entombed, Malevolent Creation, Nocturnal, Phazm, Pig Destroyer, Razorbacks Records, Polterchrist, Vader

This is the final issue that I got. Suddenly I remembered there is another Magazine called DOA which also 'formerly known as SOD Magazine" which I haven't own yet. Hopefully I can get some (used) copies like Anvil. Email me if you want to get rid of your DOA.

Anvil #3 (2004)

Anvil #3 (2004)
84 pg, pro-print, English

Interview
Mayhem, Satyricon, Infinite Hate, Dismember, Death Angel, Krieg, Exodus, Suffocation, Vicious, Acheron

Krieg answer the longest and the most entertaining interview for this issue. I spotted one changes in this issue: the review of latest release is placed right after the band's interview. Everything else is just like the previous issue (layout, etc).

Cool to know a Christian radio invited Acheron, Deicide (as mentioned by Vincent) and debate about religion in their show. Wondering there are any foul, vulgar words or swearing involved in the show.

Anvil #2 (2004)

Anvil #2 (2004)
84 pg, A4, pro-print, English

Interview
Probot, Dimmu Borgir, Cannible Corpse, Devil Driver, Deicide, Ravenous, E-Force, Horned God, Killaman, Macabre, Necrodeath, Serial Butcher

I bought second-hand copies of issue #2, #3 and #4 from a Sabahan metal head in facebook. The front cover is too cool for not to be featured in here.

The official website link is no longer valid. Beside knowing this magazine is formerly known (or made by the same people) as Sound Of Death magazine or better known as S.O.D Magazine but still curious to know why creating a new one.

Anyway, the layout, the style of interview and reviews are just like SOD Magazine except (if I remember it right) this magazine is in color. The reviews are rated with skull, David Horn still starts his questions with "Tell me...", wickedly priced at $6.66 and ofcourse comes with free CD. There is a full page Konqueror Records advertisement here. I wonder whether this is Singaporean label still exist.

Not much to say about this "The Unholy Bible of Extreme Metal" really if you are familiar with SOD Mag. The interviews differ from each contributor. This magazine do looks great with lots of blood red pages like that Ravenous picture but I think need a bit of creativity in layout.

The next reviews will be a lot shorter since I don’t see any obvious changes from each issue.

Abysmal Scripture #3 (Jan.2004)

Abysmal Scripture #3 (Jan.2004)
40pg, A4, xerox, English

Interview
Parricide, Human Error, Argon, Nobody, Dick Stink, Germinale, Flesh Ripper, Carpe Noctem, Break The Silence, Rudra, Age Of Agony, Twilight Zone

"Intervisual Music Fanzine Emphasises On Gore & Metal!!!", how's that for the tagline? Exactly a year later, spawn another issue of Abysmal Scripture. The xerox quality is better than #2. There are few more changes. The obvious one is the back cover. The editor is now using 2 columns per page for interviews (no column for reviews). In the video reviews, the editor put some still image of the video but I honestly don't like this kind of arrangement.

The rest (writing style, etc) are still the same. There is a short intro before the interview and ended with the band's bio & discography. Back then it was sold with Still Supreme Chapter 3 Compilation tape.

Death Attack #1 (2004)

40 page, A4, xerox, Malay

Interview
Catacomb, Tasyim, Kherow, Violator, Crystal Tears, Humiliated Grapes, Effluvium

Bio
Violator, Mytra, Mukhong, Catacomb, Damokis, Scent of Death, Korihor, Koma, Anguish

I've searched the local distro for zine they have on sale. So Metal Zone informed me about Death Attack and I quickly wired the money for a copy each of the first & second issue. There's not many good Malay-written zine around. I must say that this debut issue is quite good considering its their first issue. Not much to complain on the layout, nicely done "desktop publishing software" way @ computer layouted except for the page that used 4 columns per page. Don't know why, but I dont like to look at it haha. Xerox quality can be improved though. Although they have table of content but no page number which is not the way it should be. The content are 100% in Malay except for Effluvium interview which is in Malay. I think it is better if it is translated in Malay. Other section they have in the zine; "Metallik Attack", news section and 13 pages of news (separated to local and international news) which is too much for me; "Rebiu Metallik", "rebiu" is review in Malay. The reviews are grouped together (CD, etc) and not in alphabetical order; "Skolah Lame", that's direct translation of 'old-school'. Reviews of some old local stuff (including rock bands); "Militant Metallik", band bio section. I bought this around mid 2009. I didn't asked the date of release though so this one is outdated but probably Metal Zone have some copies for sale. In case you are interested to have a copy or send in promo, check out their myspace for more detail.
