Rest In Pain #2 (2016)

Rest In Pain #2 (2016)
150 pages, A4, English, pro-printed

Interviews
Profanity Angel, Mortis Dei, Aragon, Iron Hammer Zine, Rotten Age, Aries Vehemens, Conquest Icon, Merciless Death, Dark Fury, Nazghor, Manzer, Nekkrofukk, Xaos Oblivion, Burning Abyss Zine, Incarnated, Apocalyptic Rites, Freezing Blood, Kampf Records

Scene Report
Bulgarian Scene Report

The whole issue was written/drawn by hand including the zine/band's logo. That's a lot of effort to complete the whole issue. No specific layout style. Border/page frame are mostly used. The writings are varied, not limited to certain style. Some are easy to read (or to look at) but some are not (in fact look a bit messy). Very minimal pictures used too.

There are some I think is the band's handwriting when they reply to the interviews. The Bulgarian Scene Report by Medarov of Terozin Zine might be his real handwriting as well.

Whether this style is good thing or not, very much depends on you. I am not really fond with this style. It is also needing some effort from the readers too in reading them since the handwriting are not that easy to read at times.

There are also reviews on Music & zine. They are not rated and not alphabetically arranged. Very messy. The editor draws the band's/zine's logo.

I have the reprint version by Schattenmann Publishing.

Pages are numbered but no table of content.

The full page review/article on Pedal To The Metal was nice. I bought few issues.

Bangkit! #2 (2016)

The Bollocks, Kah Kah Celaka, Shitnoise Bastards, Sudirrman, No Distance, Sharon Stoned, Secret In Defence, Green Peace Distro, Tarantulah, Abhorstench, Braincell, Uptosixteen, Terssalahh, The Bollocks

The second issue released after a few months. Pyan already mentioned the next issue will feature more reviews and he kept his word. This is one is thicker than the debut issue. The layout, etc is the same style like the previous issue.

'Diskusi Dua Hala' @ Split interview with Pig-Krust & Bakteria. Before the start of this section, there is a one page info on 'Alcoholic CrocoCrust' split CDR featuring both bands released by Blazt Promotion (label run by Pyan).

You see The Bollocks twice up there. There are 2 separated interviews. This issue starts with the interview made by Pyan and ended with the one done by Trashnoiser.

There is a page on 'testimoni' from the readers for the debut issue which sparks his interest to continue with more Bangkit! in the future.

Bangkit! #1 (2016)

Krosot, Carburetor Dung, Klabu Asap, Penentangan Berterusan, John Macbaren, Angkara, Langgar Lari, Disobey

Article
"HC Punk Dalam Hidup Ku!" by Benny Pangazou

A well-done debut issue. Entirely done in Malay with nice layout. 2 column per page, with page numbers, table of contents and clear laser printing quality.

The editor of this project is Pyan Nathias. Yes, you guess it right. He's the editor of the kvlt Malaysian Metal zine, Nathias. In this project he feature mostly HC Punk scene; the bands, the news section, and also the reviews of music stuffs and also on zines.

He featured Carburator Dung interview in this issue which originally featured in Nathias #2 (1994). The whole interview is in English as it were featured originally and this is the only English section in the zine. Very lenghty answer from Joe Kidd to short questions by Pyan. He put some remarks at the beginning and the end of this section. There are also some interviews previously featured in his blog; Up The Punx

On the reviews, the reviews are from Pyan and other contributors. In music section, the reviews are not rated and most of it have the actual pictures of the stuffs being reviewed. Which mean you can the sleeve and tapes or CDs of the stuff being reviewed. The same goes to the zine reviews. And both are also not alphabetically arranged.

HC Punk, etc is not my thing. I am not into this scene. However reading this zine do enlightened me on the bands & zine in this zine. Print run not stated. I believe this issue is still available for sale.

Massakrak #4 (2016)

Massakrak #4 (2016)
172 pg, A5, xerox, English

Interviews
Aswang, Crown Ov Horns, Desultory, Hellstorm, Ironskull, Tormentor, Tenomizer, Nihilist Volcanic Terror, Perantaraan Zine/Inside/Maar/Kimar Records, The Eye and The Serpent Zine

I missed out issue #3. It's been 10 years since the review of issue #2 in this blog. Wow! I survived that long with this blog shit!!!

Back to this issue, Hishammer (the editor), assisted by well-know figure of Sabahan metal as contributors like Rosmadi & NecroAdiek, came out with an interesting issue. This issue is massive, in-depth interviews and many interesting reading materials in it.

Most interesting for me is the 9-pages of editorial or series of short articles on first pages of this issue. I always like reading the personal words of the editor in this section.

The review section, 'Seek and Destroy' which is Sabah metal review. Starts with releases from Kota Kinabalu Metal Troopers, then with Sandakan War Demon and I think all districts in Sabah is covered (Beaufort, Tawau, Keningau, Tambunan).

About the layout, 2 columns per page with frame artwork.

Gig report; Nunslaughter & Impiety when they played in Sabah.

Interview with NecroAdiek is always a long one because of many projects he involved in. I think I covered all up there.

Last 14 pages, reviews of non-Sabahan metal music and zine reviews. There's also reviews section of Sabah old demo by Rosmadi.

Reading the interview with The Eye and The Serpent Zine, when he mentioned an old Sabah zine, Moshmaniac Zine bring some funny memories. I wrote a letter to editor and fold the letter in a shape of an aeroplane. When he replied, the paper is a bird shape origami. Fukked! Having hard time unfolding that letter hehe. And he mentioned Baby Rina. Yes, that also bring back some memories as well.

Is that all? Ofcourse not. Those who read the zine will know what I omitted from this review. Fun to read but not taking side.

Tough Riffs #2 (2016)

Tough Riffs #2 (2016)
English, pro-printed, A4, 48pgs

Interviews
Malignancy, Prophecy, Creepmime, Nervous Impulse, Dehuman, Pestilence, Kraanium, Master, Blood, Misery Index, Morta Skuld, Ossuary, Morgue, Extinctionist, Burial Ritual, Cerebral Effusion

This is my first introduction to this zine.

Glossy printed, published by Schattenmanns Publishing. Quite professional on the layout. The pages are numbered, have Table of Content, colored photos. The font size is quite huge though. 3 columns per page with background picture.

The zine put the name of the band & person interviewed at the top of the page. So you know who is being interviewed.

No review though.
