Vampiria #6 (2002)

Vampiria #6 (2002)
68 pg, A4, pro-printed, English

Interviews
Bathory, Deinonychus, Theatre Of Tragedy, Pentagram, Blood Red Throne, Louisa John-Krol, Shining, Hungry Lucy, Jose Moral, Curachan, Diabolicum, Molombra, Testify, Centurian, Unto Ashes, Judith, Mike Bonatch

Amazing that some distro still have a copy of this issue for sale. "Elite Magazine For Elite Creatures". Man, they know how to play with words.

All glossy paper. Simple layout (3 or 2 columns per page) on dark background. I like it this way. For reviews section it is 4 columns per page.

The interviews are OK. Mostly gothic/doom band/artist. Can't remember the last time time reading 'new' interview with Bathory. This one is made after the release of Destroyer of Worlds. The late Quorthon said he already answered 124 interview before this interview after the release of that album.

The reviews, "Writing Of The Occult Scribe" is music review (album) rated out of 100, alphabetically arranged. Plenty of stuff being reviewed but the reviews are short. On the top of the page is My Kingdom Music releases (tracklist and some info. but not a review). For promo CD/demo CDr, the editor named is as "Demo-Nizzati". There are also 4 vinyl reviews.

Also interesting is the zine review, "Underground Press". They are rated on the layout like 'good', 'mediocre', 'simple'. First time I saw editor doing review like this.

I also found an advertisement of Vampiria Mag of Spain in here. Now I know there are other Vampiria zine in this planet.

I should informed you that the editor also runs a label called My Kingdom Music. This issue comes 2 Free CD sampler. I like more of the bands on the first CD.

The editor missed the dateline and had to release this issue a bit late due to some personal issues. Fukking hell! He already release few issues in span of few months. That is already an achievement.

Comic strip on Kibota was fun, the character used as the icon for this zine as well in his blog. The origin of this characterstarted in #2.5.

The rest, as good as always.

This is 'mini issue', special release for Kuala Lumpur Zine Fest. You will have the usual interviews & reviews (some made by a writer and they are rated), you will also have poem, comics, articles (one is on a band called Misgive) are among the stuff you will get in #2.5.

The full page review/article on Pedal To The Metal was nice. I bought few issues.

The second issue released after a few months. Pyan already mentioned the next issue will feature more reviews and he kept his word. This is one is thicker than the debut issue. The layout, etc is the same style like the previous issue.

'Diskusi Dua Hala' @ Split interview with Pig-Krust & Bakteria. Before the start of this section, there is a one page info on 'Alcoholic CrocoCrust' split CDR featuring both bands released by Blazt Promotion (label run by Pyan).

You see The Bollocks twice up there. There are 2 separated interviews. This issue starts with the interview made by Pyan and ended with the one done by Trashnoiser.

There is a page on 'testimoni' from the readers for the debut issue which sparks his interest to continue with more Bangkit! in the future.

Article
"HC Punk Dalam Hidup Ku!" by Benny Pangazou

A well-done debut issue. Entirely done in Malay with nice layout. 2 column per page, with page numbers, table of contents and clear laser printing quality.

The editor of this project is Pyan Nathias. Yes, you guess it right. He's the editor of the kvlt Malaysian Metal zine, Nathias. In this project he feature mostly HC Punk scene; the bands, the news section, and also the reviews of music stuffs and also on zines.

He featured Carburator Dung interview in this issue which originally featured in Nathias #2 (1994). The whole interview is in English as it were featured originally and this is the only English section in the zine. Very lenghty answer from Joe Kidd to short questions by Pyan. He put some remarks at the beginning and the end of this section. There are also some interviews previously featured in his blog; Up The Punx

On the reviews, the reviews are from Pyan and other contributors. In music section, the reviews are not rated and most of it have the actual pictures of the stuffs being reviewed. Which mean you can the sleeve and tapes or CDs of the stuff being reviewed. The same goes to the zine reviews. And both are also not alphabetically arranged.

HC Punk, etc is not my thing. I am not into this scene. However reading this zine do enlightened me on the bands & zine in this zine. Print run not stated. I believe this issue is still available for sale.

Utilis! "Pekerja Seks dan Transgender"

Utilis!
"Pekerja Seks dan Transgender"
32 pg, A5, xerox, Malay/English

This is not music zine. Primarily written in Malay. Articles are related to this issue's topic as listed above. Some poems and comics available too.

Cut n paste style, xerox quality are OK but can be better. I bought this together with Harrk Tuih Demo.

It is a very easy read. I finished reading in couple of minutes.
