Hellfukking Metal #3 (2012)

Hellfukking Metal #3 (2012)
48 pg, A4, xerox, English

Interview
Veinen, Assassin, Crucifixxx Sodomy, Black Feast, Midnight, Communion, Ocean Of Zero, Slaughtered Priest, Sadokist

2 years later came out the third issue. Some visible improvement (after flipping through my hand-numbered copy #079 before start reading it) is in the layout of the review section. It doesn’t have that much empty space like #2. In #3, the layout is combination of cut n paste and computer layout (2 or 3 columns per page). I personally not fond of the font type used in this issue (I am so used to see typewriter type font type in a zine). He also added flyers to fill up space.

The editor maintains the interview style (more on music and band-related question) but no longer have the additional 13 questions like #2. The longest interview (and the best in this issue) is with Assassin which is quite special for the editor.

The reviews are not rated and not alphabetically arrange and at times are very long. There is a review section entitled "From The Past Comes The Storm". It is and old demo reviews section but not necessarily from the 80's because it has one from 2002.

Xerox quality is as good as #2 only this time you can see clearer picture of the editor.

The editor also run distro/label called Dynamite Prod which is the official distributor of Into The Catacomb zine/newsletter which is a great newsletter (more info on this later). So please ask the latest distro list when contacting him.

Hellfukking Metal #2 (Dec. 2010)

Hellfukking Metal #2 (Dec. 2010)

60 pg, A4, xerox, English

Interview
Bohemian Grove, Anal Vomit, Nekromantheon, Black Crucifixion, Grave Miasma, Morbid Gods, Heptameron, Cruel Force, Omega, Abhorrot, Almighty Sathanas, Darkthrone, Death Invoker, Mockery, Hades Archer

This is the first zine where the editor contacted me only asked me to pay only the postage. I am truly honored! I will never ask for 'promo copies'. I made a zine before in early 2000 and know the cost of making it (including sending 'complimentary copies' to the bands and labels that send in promo) is very high. I burnt out at issue #3. Anyway, let’s get back to this zine.

I like a lot 'A3 folded into two' (that makes it as A4 size) like this. Some say this will cost more but it easy to flip through the pages and looks a little bit 'professional' feel like those magazine. There is no page number but have table of content. The layout is in cut ‘n paste style with good xerox quality. The layout on review section looks dull but has cover or artwork to offset the lack of graphic in this section. If can do it with simple black background will be a lot better (like Best of... column) but then it might increase the price because of heavy toner usage.

Quite a few of the bands interviewed are from Greece which is good. In the interviews, the editor puts the band's discography at the end of the interview. Beside the usual questions, all the bands with have another additional (and the same) 13 questions like 'the best album, best cover, etc. Some bands answer it lengthily and I guess these bands are the one really worth for us to check. Boring answer can be boring music sometimes.

The review (demo, EPs, full-length and zine) are not rated and not alphabetically arranged and these review will be accompanied by the band's logo or front cover.

There is also column for "Best of 2000-2009" (with front cover) which is a review section separated by the genre. We usually see a lot '80 stuffs tribute so this is quite interesting idea. So I hope we can see best of 2010-2019 in 2020.

Also interesting to mention this is the first time I see the word 'cyberground' (I'm sure you know what it means) which I think I will start using it after this.

This is still available (in 2013) for sale for 10$ including postage worldwide.

Lopman is a Metalhead #1 (2013)

Lopman is a Metalhead #1 (2013)

24 pg, A5, xerox, Malay

Interview
Az-Zalzalah, Deforming Torture, Molotov Cocktail

This zine feature metal & punk bands and add in some comics. The comic featuring none other than Lopman himself. "Lopman" is a fictional character with spiked hair. It is quite funny when people making fun of Lopman. You know some people look evil or 'trve' but in reality they are sometimes an idiot. The interviews questions are simple which around 15 to 20 questions asked to the bands. Layout is in cut n paste style. In total there are 5 comics with each comic (6 panel) per page. The drawing for the comic look simple, maybe not the best or not that detailed (actually I don’t know how to comment the drawing but I've seen some make it better) but the story in the comic is what matter the most. Xerox quality is not good but for a mere RM2, so that can be forgiven

I have plenty of this for sales for RM2 (inclusive postage to Malaysia residents) or you can buy/trade it from editor.

Prostata #7 (2012)

Prostata #7 (2012)

36 pg, A4, xerox, English

Interview
Nocturnal Breed/Conjuration, Skitsystem, Alcoholic Nightmare, Glob, Blaspherian, Agathocles, Evil Angel, Zoldier Noiz, Black Magic, Eat Pussy, Cliteater, Fondle Corpse, No Poser Please!, Tinner, Ironcunt, Mare, Stone Vengeance, TQB, Lobotomized, Obliteration, Cock ESP, Magrudergrind, Brutal Truth

Apologies for not putting the complete list of the bands here. There are few more bands which I'm not sure their name (Ukrainian bands). The zine is made in cut n paste style and use lots of pictures on the background. The editor puts humors in the interviews. Of course, that depends on how you interpret the questions. Some questions are not related with music (some bands get lots of questions like this). Black Magic & Eat Pussy consist of very short interview. The editor mentioned these are "crappy bands" but he still give them some space here for them.

The reviews are short and do not have specific section. Only half page of review times there which mean not many reviews. They are not rated and not alphabetically arranged.

Quite unusual 'intro' in the editorial (I am too, saddened after knowing the death of the frog. Another life is loss ;-) ).

Not bad really, I like it despite the short review. The zine is already 7 issues old so the editor knows what's good to give to the readers. I like it better if they don't put pictures of topless ugly women.
